Hi,

I’m Jill.

Imagine if that was my whole ‘about’ page. If you want to know what it would be like, just don’t scroll down.

about blanklit

blanklit creates resources that help children understand and cope with medical stuff, as well as giving parents/carers and healthcare workers the tools they need to support their children/patients.I started this project because I've been on all sides of the equation - patient, nurse, and mother. I've seen and felt what helps and what doesn't when it comes to medical procedures.

I’m also funny. So are some of my books.

blanklit’s

vision

changing the narrative for kids' healthcare to:

  • minimise medical trauma for kids

  • empower kids to gain autonomy over their health

  • develop health literacy in kids that will follow them into adulthood

  • support kids’ sense of value by inspiring a culture of intentional listening

  • provide comfort and safety through humour

why blanklit?

"blanklit”is the way my youngest daughter says "blanket.” I chose the name because it evokes comfort and warmth with a subtle hint at literature (but with room for other stuff). I also like the tone of childlike innocence, which acts as a reminder of who my books are for. I also like my daughter.
